JOIN THE CONCERT BANDIf you are interested in playing with the Melbourne Municipal Concert Band, you are invited to join us to rehearse. We typically rehearse every Tuesday evening from 7:15 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (unless it is a performance week). Once you have played with the band for about six weeks, and you have the endorsement of your section leader, you will be made an official member of the band. Rehearsals are held in the Julia D. Good Rehearsal Hall, which is located directly behind the Melbourne Municipal Auditorium. Enter from Fee Avenue, next to the library. The address is 1924 Melody Lane, Melbourne, FL 32902. We welcome players of all ages and abilities. Our members are quite diverse, from professional players to amateurs that have pulled their instruments out of the case after 30 years of not playing. Home school students also find this band to be a great way to put their private instrumental lessons to good use. NEW HORIZONS BANDIf you really haven’t touched your instrument in many years, or you’d like to take up a new instrument, then the New Horizons Band might be the right place for you. This is a non-performing band which rehearses in our rehearsal hall every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The band is directed by Tom Cobble, the associate conductor of the Community Band of Brevard. For more detailed information, or to find out how to join any of our other musical ensembles, please contact our Band Manager at (321) 724-0555 or email dewing3@cfl.rr.com. MELBOURNE COMMUNITY ORCHESTRAMany of our band members also participate in the Melbourne Community Orchestra, which rehearses in the Julia D. Good Rehearsal Hall.
