JOIN THE CONCERT BAND

If you are interested in playing with the Melbourne Municipal Concert Band, you are invited to join us to rehearse. We typically rehearse every Tuesday evening from 7:15 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (unless it is a performance week). Once you have played with the band for about six weeks, and you have the endorsement of your section leader, you will be made an official member of the band.

Rehearsals are held in the Julia D. Good Rehearsal Hall, which is located directly behind the Melbourne Municipal Auditorium. Enter from Fee Avenue, next to the library. The address is 1924 Melody Lane, Melbourne, FL 32902.

We welcome players of all ages and abilities. Our members are quite diverse, from professional players to amateurs that have pulled their instruments out of the case after 30 years of not playing. Home school students also find this band to be a great way to put their private instrumental lessons to good use.

NEW HORIZONS BAND

If you don’t think you are ready to play the more-advanced music that the Melbourne Municipal Band plays, then the New Horizons Band might be the right place for you.  The New Horizons Band plays easier music with a bit of music instruction at the beginning of the rehearsal.  The band rehearses in our rehearsal hall every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. To join the New Horizons Band, come to the rehearsal with your instrument.  There are no tryouts.  The band is co-directed by David Ewing and Susan Diebel.  For more information about the New Horizons Band contact Jim Wyatt at 321-952-2914 or e-mail: jrw101lrrp@msn.com.  For more information about the New Horizons International Music Association, visit their website, http://www.newhorizonsmusic.org/nhima.html.

MELBOURNE COMMUNITY ORCHESTRA

Many of our band members also participate in the Melbourne Community Orchestra, which rehearses in the Julia D. Good Rehearsal Hall. If you are interested in learning more about our local community orchestra, please go to http://mcorchestra.org. for more information.
